In a chaotic era of the world, where powers are fragmented and war reigns, the monk Xiang An brought an orphan from China to Japan. The orphan, named Zitaro, carries an astonishing secret. After being separated from Xiang An, the lonely Zitaro, accompanied by his beloved dog Feiwan, heads towards Mankaku Temple in the land of Ak池. Along the way, he encounters the mysterious swordsman "Nameless." Zitaro finds himself being pursued, and at a critical moment, Nameless saves his life. From then on, the two begin to travel together. Though the quirky ronin and the emotionally closed-off boy often clash, they gradually become good friends. The assassination organization led by Bai Luan manages to capture Zitaro, and they begin to prepare for a certain ritual. The blonde-haired, blue-eyed swordsman "Luo Lang" is also a member of the assassination organization; although he follows orders, he doesn't truly care for the organization's goals. For him, the meaning of life lies in finding a worthy opponent. The dramatic showdown between Luo Lang and Nameless begins...
