The Hundred Years' War, a world turned upside down, decaying hearts, and rampant greed. Countries are merging and attacking each other, and blood flows like rivers. A man named Guts (voiced by Hiroaki Iwanaga) makes a name for himself among mercenaries through his own strength, attracting the attention of another powerful man. Soon, he encounters the dreaded mercenary group "The Band of the Hawk" and its extraordinarily charismatic and powerful leader, Griffith (voiced by Takahiro Sakurai). Guts is defeated in a battle challenging Griffith, and thereafter joins the Band of the Hawk, becoming their most valiant warrior. Through a series of fierce battles, he forges unbreakable friendships with his comrades and earns Griffith's admiration, who even risks his own safety to save Guts, tormented by the demon Zodd. However, as the Band of the Hawk becomes the regular army of the Midland Kingdom, and Griffith is ennobled, the pure bonds of camaraderie begin to be overshadowed by the specter of conspiracy... This film is adapted from the original work by manga artist Kentaro Miura and is the first part of the "Golden Age" trilogy, with the other two parts being "The Fall of Doldrey" and "The Advent."
