On a hot summer day, Sakuragi Hanamichi, who made a significant mistake in the battle in Hainan, is determined to cut off his once-proud pompadour and appears on the streets of Shohoku with a fluffy red head. His determination seems not to resonate well with those around him, and instead, he is met with laughter. Amidst the noise and commotion, an uninvited guest appears at the Shohoku gym. The guest is Hiri, the head of the basketball team from the private school Rikuho, and their foreign ace player, Mike. Rikuho hopes to have a practice match with Shohoku before their next game. Although the schedule is tight, Coach Anzai unexpectedly supports this idea. Akagi and the others do not realize that Rikuho has more than just Mike as their skilled player. In a super luxurious dedicated basketball court, an extraordinary practice match outside of the national competition begins… This film is adapted from Takehiko Inoue's manga of the same name and is the third theatrical version of this animation.
