Satoshi has left, but Hikaru's Go journey continues. Following the storyline of the animated version, this is the OVA released afterwards, telling the story of a group of young players on their journey to the Hokuto Cup. After much effort and struggle, Hikaru Shindo (voiced by Ritsuko Kawakami) finally becomes a professional Go player, marking both an acknowledgment of his abilities and a new beginning. After becoming a professional, Hikaru learns about the Hokuto Cup from the Go Institute. It is a Go tournament for players under 18, with youths participating from strong Go countries like China and South Korea. Excited, Hikaru shares the news with Ryo Tsuruta (voiced by Sanae Kobayashi), who coldly responds that he has already been confirmed as a participant in the Hokuto Cup. Meanwhile, Hikaru still needs to compete in the qualifiers to earn the right to stand alongside Ryo at the Hokuto Cup; thus, the journey to the Hokuto Cup begins.
