Kagome Higurashi is a 15-year-old ordinary girl in the third grade of junior high school. One day, she accidentally travels back 500 years to the Sengoku period through a dry well at her family's shrine. At that time, smoke rose everywhere, demons roamed freely, and the world was in chaos. Kagome encounters the sealed half-demon Inuyasha at the sacred tree. Fifty years ago, Inuyasha, wanting to become a true demon, sought the Shikon Jewel and met the powerful priestess Kikyo. After spending some time together, they developed feelings for each other. Inuyasha wished to become human, and Kikyo planned to return to a normal life after purifying the Shikon Jewel.
