Jess (played by Josh Hutcherson) is an unhappy child. He is bullied by classmates at school and does not receive affection from his parents at home. Only two people can bring light to his childhood—one is his music teacher, and the other is Leslie (played by AnnaSophia Robb), who just transferred to his class. Leslie, in her unique way, inspires the dim life of Jess, gradually opening up another window in his life. On the other side of the river, they plan to build a kingdom called "Terabithia," creating a house in a tree with members including monsters, a wasp army, squirrels, and a vulture.
