Kyoto Uzumasa, a city with a rich history of over a thousand years and still home to many ancient sites and attractions. In the latter half of the last century, several film studios and countless filmmakers left their mark here, with the internationally renowned classic "Rashomon" being born in this very place. The film industry experienced rapid development, leading to the emergence of commercial streets. However, as major film studios successively went bankrupt, Uzumasa has long since lost its glorious past. Kyoko Higashide (played by Hana Ebase), who works at a local university library, is the daughter of a laundromat on the commercial street. Her childhood friend Kouta Ryou (played by USA) is unwilling to take over the family tofu shop too soon and is determined to become a famous comedian, but he continuously faces setbacks, causing their mutual feelings for each other to stumble along the way. During this time, Kyoko meets Daisuke Enoki (played by Joutarou Tanaka), an exchange student from Tokyo. Enoki is immediately smitten with this simple girl and begins a passionate pursuit. In the tranquil Uzumasa, a slightly melancholic and tender love story quietly unfolds... This film is produced by Yoji Yamada together with 22 students from the Ritsumeikan University Film Studies Department where he serves as a visiting professor.
