A cheeky little race car from Australia named Ace passes by Sodor while participating in a worldwide racing competition. Having never left the Island of Sodor, the little train Thomas decides to embark on his first global adventure after hearing Ace's stories of his travels around the world! Together with his new friend, a female train named Nia from Kenya, he crosses deserts, jungles, and dangerous mountains, journeying across Africa, South America, Central America, North America, and Asia, experiencing breathtaking landscapes and exotic customs, and writing his own growth adventure with friendship, wisdom, and courage.
