In the middle of the Nordic Sea, the island of Berk is about to welcome its annual joyful Christmas. Hiccup (voiced by Jay Baruchel) and his good friend Toothless are once again soaring freely in the skies above Berk. However, suddenly the sky is filled with all kinds of dragons, and even the dragons on the island take flight with this group. The islanders feel very downhearted but can only face the reality of the dragons leaving. Before long, even Toothless takes to the skies under certain circumstances. Several days pass without Toothless returning, which leaves Hiccup feeling very despondent. One day, he is knocked into the air by the plump dragon Meatlug as it bursts out, and then he arrives on a strange little island with it.
