In the vast sky over an endless farm, the crop dusting plane Dusty (voiced by Dane Cook) is determined to enter the competition venue. Usually, his friend the agricultural sprayer Chuck (voiced by Brad Garrett) serves as his coach and technician, while Dusty flies at high speeds near the farm despite his own limitations, often getting an earful from the repair plane Dottie (voiced by Teri Hatcher). Nevertheless, he resolutely signs up for the Wings Around the Globe competition's preliminaries. Dusty is extremely lucky to pass the prelims but soon realizes the gap between himself and the professional racing planes, so he seeks out the legendary retired warplane Skipper (voiced by Stacy Keach), who is said to have shot down 50 enemy planes, to be his coach.
