In Los Angeles, USA, there is a "Toon Town" specifically for cartoon characters to live in. Cartoon star Roger Rabbit (voiced by Charles Fleischer) suspects his wife Jessica (voiced by Kathleen Turner) of having an affair, often losing focus while shooting, which earns him the ridicule of his partner, Baby Herman. The owner of the cartoon film company, Maroon, hires private detective Eddie (voiced by Bob Hoskins) to investigate the situation and take photos of Jessica's infidelity, hoping to help Roger make up his mind to cut off the romance and focus on the cartoon series. Eddie is also eager to catch the killer behind the recent death of his brother Teddy, who was murdered by a character from Toon Town. As the investigation deepens, things are not as simple as Eddie thought; there are hidden affairs, and once he commits to this case, he cannot easily give up. Will Eddie uncover the truth behind the case...? This film is adapted from Gary K. Wolf's bestselling novel of the same name and is a combination of live-action and animation.
