9th Robot (Elijah Wood) suddenly wakes up to find a world around him filled with crises, in ruins, a post-apocalyptic scene. He escapes to the streets with a round object marked with three strange symbols and encounters inventor Robot 2 (Martin Landau) who helps him get a voice, but 2 is unfortunately taken by a machine monster. 9 meets veteran 1 (Christopher Plummer), mechanic 5 (John C.
