Set against the backdrop of the Joseon era, a virtual dynasty, a shaman from the Star Chamber is pursued after witnessing a palace conspiracy and is saved by Lady Shin (played by Yang Mi-kyung) from the Hall of Hongmun. The shaman realizes that the girl Lady Shin carries is the "Moon of Joseon," noble and glorious, but approaching the "Sun of Joseon" will bring about a tragedy of extermination. To repay Lady Shin's kindness, the shaman entrusts her friend, fellow shaman Zhang Luying (played by Jeon Mi-seon), to protect this child before her death. Lady Shin gives birth to a daughter and names her Yan Yu. Thirteen years later, Yan Yu (played by Han Ga-in) coincidentally meets the prince Lee Hyeon (played by Kim Soo-hyun), who is smitten with her at first sight. Lee Hyeon’s half-brother, the beloved and reliant Yangmyeong-gun (played by Ding Yi-yu), also deeply loves Yan Yu, and his brother's feelings for her cause him great inner torment. At this time, a conspiracy in the royal harem completely changes the fates of the three, as the shaman’s prophecy unfolds step by step, and the love-hate relationship between the two "moons" and two "suns" begins to unfold in the depths of the Joseon palace... Based on the novel of the same name by Korean author Jeong Eun-gyeong, which achieved the highest ratings in Korea at the time.
