Mitsuki Misumi (played by Satomi Ishihara) is a forensic scientist working for the civilian forensic organization "UDI," which specializes in receiving bodies that have died due to unnatural causes and performing autopsies to uncover the truth behind the cases. Working alongside Mitsuki are forensic expert Nakado (played by Arata Iura), recorder Rokuro Kyubu (played by Masataka Kubota), and inspection technician Yuko Tokairin (played by Mihoko Ichikawa), among others. Although Nakado has extensive clinical experience, his peculiar personality often leads to irreconcilable conflicts between him and the justice- and law-oriented Mitsuki. In fact, Nakado harbors a secret unknown to anyone; his girlfriend tragically died in an "accident," but various clues suggest that a serial killer took her life. Nakado remains steadfast at UDI, undeterred by public opinion, with the sole purpose of finding the killer of his girlfriend.
