A once-glorious opera house is gradually falling into decline and faces the fate of being seized by the bank. The current owner, Buster Moon (voiced by Matthew McConaughey), does not want to see his father's lifelong work come to an end, so he decides to organize a singing competition, but accidentally sets the prize at a daunting $100,000, which he cannot afford.
