Masahiru Jouta (voiced by Takumi Terashima) is an ordinary fifteen-year-old boy, kind-hearted and full of justice, seen by his friends as the epitome of a righteous person. One day, on his way home, Masahiru encounters a homeless stray cat, takes it in, and names it Kuro (voiced by Yuki Kaji). Little did he know that this act would embroil him in a century-long struggle between vampires and humans. In a twist of fate, Masahiru unknowingly signs a contract and becomes Kuro's master, soon after which Kuro's vampire ancestors start appearing one after another. The youthful yet mature Ahsu (voiced by Ayumu Murase), the proud and sharp-tongued Misono Arisuin (voiced by Hiro Shimono), the crazed and extremist HYDE (voiced by Ryohei Kimura), and the rough and overbearing Licht (voiced by Nobunaga Shimazaki) gather around him, propelling the wheels of history forward.
