The story takes place in a distant future where a mysterious virus has ravaged the Earth, exterminating all humans over the age of thirteen. However, for the surviving children, being alive does not mean they are fortunate; the newly emerged vampire clan becomes the rulers of the Earth, and these children are "raised" as their food supply. Yuichiro (voiced by Hirano Zubasa) and Mikaela (voiced by Ono Kensho) refuse to bow to fate, and to fight back, Yuichiro joins the Japanese Imperial Demon Army and becomes a member of the Moon Demon Company. There, he meets the unconventional Shirou (voiced by Hayami Saori), the kind-hearted and weak Saotome Yuu (voiced by Okamoto Nobuhiko), the gentle and cultured Kimizuki Shinoa (voiced by Ishikawa Kaito), and the carefree Mitsuba (voiced by Iguchi Yuka), forming a bond as comrades in life and death.
