Chris Messina (This Is Us, American Horror Story) will star in the new film The Impossible, produced by Fox 2000. Based on the autobiography The Impossible: The Miraculous Story of a Mother’s Faith and Her Child’s Resurrection by Joyce Smith, it tells an extraordinary true story: Joyce's 14-year-old son, John, fell into an icy river in Missouri one winter and was declared dead, but through Joyce's prayers and faith, John's heart started beating again an hour later. Sixteen days later, John walked out of the hospital unaided, fully recovered. Directed by Roxann Dawson (American Dreams, House of Cards), with a screenplay adapted by Grant Nieporte (Seven Pounds), filming will begin in Winnipeg in March.
