It mainly tells the story of a high school student, Kaito Kuroba, who loves magic. In a hidden room behind a secret door in his own room, he discovers the costume of the world-famous thief, Kid the Phantom Thief. Subsequently, while wearing Kid's outfit, Kaito encounters his father—Kaito Kuroba's former assistant, Toichi Kuroba, who is a world-renowned magician, and learns from him that his father is actually Kid the Phantom Thief and that he did not die by accident, but was assassinated.
