On November 2, 1975, the body of the famous Italian director Pasolini was found at Ostia beach on the outskirts of Rome, showing signs of violent attack before his death. Prior to this, he had just completed "Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom," often regarded as one of the top ten banned films in the world. Rumors suggested that the killer was a 17-year-old male prostitute, adding a sensational aspect to this tragedy, and some speculated that the death of this influential figure was entirely a political conspiracy, with the truth of the matter still remaining a mystery. The film captures the last day of Pasolini (Willem Dafoe) before his murder. The director portrays him calmly dining with his beloved mother, ex-boyfriend, and an actress from "Salò," gathering with close friends to share recent film concepts, and then driving through areas frequented by male prostitutes in search of a one-night encounter. Ferrara boldly presents Pasolini's creative process for his next work—a film filled with sexual depictions exploring the universe and truth—intertwined with a documentary style, achieving a groundbreaking narrative.
