In the year Showa 20, the Pacific War had just come to an end. The once war-torn landscapes of Japan lay desolate, waiting for revival. The people living at the bottom of society struggled to survive with their hardworking hands. In the ruins of Tokyo, small vendors gradually gathered, providing affordable and delicious food for the impoverished workers, marking the beginning of the legend of the stand-up food masters. The character of Ginji, the Moon Viewing Sorcerer (voiced by a strange person from Kichijoji), made the first appearance, making a name for himself in the world of free meals. Following him were legendary stand-up food masters like A-gin, the Fox Fried Meat Pie (portrayed by Mako Hyoudou), A-zhe, the Hamburger (portrayed by Kenji Kawai), and U-gorou, the Beef Bowl (portrayed by Kenji Kawai), each contributing a unique chapter to Japan's post-World War II development history... This film is adapted by animation director Mamoru Oshii from his own novel published in 2004.
