Hyun-sook (played by Kim Hee-ae) struggles to raise her two daughters, Wan-ji (played by Go Ah-sung) and Tian-ji (played by Kim Kyung-hee), with her meager income from working at a supermarket. Despite being sisters, the two girls have completely opposite personalities. Wan-ji is reclusive and rebellious, maintaining a very cold relationship with her family; Tian-ji, on the other hand, is sweet and lovable, often finding ways to make her mother happy. Hyun-sook and Wan-ji are shocked when the optimistic and cheerful Tian-ji chooses to end her own life one day, a devastating blow that makes their already difficult life even more challenging. Nevertheless, Hyun-sook and Wan-ji continue to hold on to a semblance of normalcy. In a twist of fate, Wan-ji unexpectedly learns some information about her sister’s life that reveals the true reason behind Tian-ji's death and a secret she had desperately tried to hide.
