In an accident, Jonathan's (voiced by Kazuyuki Okitsu) father, Sir Joestar (voiced by Masashi Sugawara), is saved by a stranger, Dio Brando (voiced by Takehito Koyasu). The kind Sir takes in the self-proclaimed orphan Dio, who then formally enters the Joestar family as an adopted son. To others, Dio appears to be an excellent and upright young man, but only Jonathan, who has suffered through Dio's cruel bullying, knows that behind Dio's glamorous facade lies an evil heart. Sure enough, as they grow older, Dio begins to covet the vast fortune of the Joestar family. By chance, Dio discovers the Stone Mask, which can grant immense power, and without hesitation, he dons the mask in pursuit of greater wealth and authority. After transforming into a terrifying vampire, Dio starts his frenzied revenge against the Joestar family. To avenge his father and the entire family, Jonathan begins to train in the Ripple, the only technique that can defeat vampires.
