On the eve of World War I, a group of European nobles and artists embark on a journey to escort the ashes of a famous opera singer back to her birthplace on a small island. However, they encounter the outbreak of war along the way, and a surge of refugees fills the ship, creating a stark contrast of classes in the confined space.
