Young William (played by Patrick Fugit) seizes the opportunity to write an article for Rolling Stone magazine before graduation. He will follow a rock band on their journey, embarking on a long trip to report on them. His mother is worried about the band's bad influences and strongly opposes William's decision. William stubbornly sets off anyway. His interview subjects are the members of the band "Stillwater," a group of young people who have not yet made a name for themselves and are traveling across the country for concerts with dreams in their hearts.
