The combination of Dazai Osamu and Miwa Nishikawa can be summed up in one word: color. Nishikawa does not merely scratch the surface of Dazai Osamu’s semi-autobiographical novel "No Longer Human," but directly tells the story of him and three women under the guise of the book. Dazai’s wife Michiko, his lover Seiko who aspires to be a writer, and his last lover Tomie are portrayed by the talented actresses Rie Miyazawa, Gook Jiyung, and Fumi Nikaido, respectively, highlighting the carefully designed thematic color scheme for each woman. The vividly colorful visuals create a flowing visual feast. To combat the sense of powerlessness in life, Dazai becomes addicted to women and alcohol, chasing the light of death in a decadent and dark existence. Through Nishikawa's lens, he is both a genius and a scoundrel, and his flaws reflect the fragility and beauty of humanity.
