Haruki Mishima (voiced by Takumi Terashima) is a very ordinary first-year high school student who develops an interest in swimming after reading a picture book called "The Prince of Mermaids," and subsequently joins the school's swimming club. In reality, Haruki has secretly liked a girl named Masaki Maharu (voiced by Sayaka Kanda) for a long time; it is this book-loving girl who gave him the picture book that changed his fate.
