She, Anne Gauthier (played by Anouk Aimée), is a widow raising her daughter alone. She is a film script girl and her husband, a stuntman, tragically died while filming a scene. She travels from Paris to Deauville every week to pick up her daughter, who is boarding at a school there. He, Jean-Louis (played by Jean-Louis Trintignant), is a widower raising his son alone. He is a race car driver, and after a car accident, his wife, thinking he was dead, committed suicide. He also travels to Deauville each week to pick up his son. One day, after dropping her daughter off at school, Anne misses the last train back to Paris and encounters Jean-Louis, who drives her home. They agree to meet the following week to pick up the kids together. The next Sunday, they spend a pleasant time with the two children. The two lonely people are drawn to each other, and love begins to blossom. However, Jean-Louis finds something strange about this romance, while Anne is torn by memories of her late husband... This film won the Palme d'Or at the 1967 Cannes Film Festival and the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film in 1968.
