In 1942, the War of Resistance against Japan and World War II were in a state of fierce intensity. Fires raged, lives were devastated, and natural disasters and human calamities filled the land with wails. While military strategists and politicians focused on the plundering of cities, few noticed that the ancient central plains of Henan were experiencing a horrendous drought.
