Netflix will release an animated series titled "Oni," based on Japanese folklore, created by renowned artist and former Pixar art director Daisuke Tsutsumi and his animation studio Tonko House (known for works like "The Dam Keeper"). The story is set in a world filled with strange gods and spirits from Japanese mythology, focusing on the daughter of one such being— the free-spirited Onari, who is determined to follow in the footsteps of past heroes, though her unique abilities have yet to be revealed. As a mysterious "oni" emerges and threatens the existence of the gods, Onari will gradually come to realize whether she has the strength to protect her peaceful village. The series will combine stop-motion animation created by the Japanese studio Dwarf with CGI animation produced by Megalis VFX.
