From the 1950s to the future, seven legendary directors each draw lots to take charge of a decade, directing a story related to Hong Kong. The title "Seven Band" symbolizes directors with unique styles and talents, much like outstanding musicians, who can come together to create a resonant and beautiful symphony. This includes Sammo Hung's "Training", Ann Hui's "Principal", Tsim Ka Ming's "Goodbye Night", Yuen Woo-Ping's "Return", Johnnie To's "Golden Era", Lin Lingdong's "Lost", and Tsui Hark's "Deep Dialogue". Among these, Lin Lingdong's "Lost" is the director's final work. "Training": In the 1950s, a group of children learning the craft train diligently under the strict guidance of their master. The tacit understanding between the master and his apprentices forms through shouts, and a day of slacking off and being punished may become an unforgettable turning point in their lives. "Principal": In the 1960s, society is impoverished, yet many seek an education. A principal who forgets to eat while writing and a kind and elegant teacher make a rooftop school the warmest home of childhood memories. "Goodbye Night": Ye Jialin and Yu Yanfan fall in love against the backdrop of beautiful sunsets in 1980s Hong Kong. When the woman's family immigrates overseas, they reluctantly endure the pain of separation, leaving only the memory of their love. "Return": In the 1990s, a father immigrates with his family, but his granddaughter stays temporarily with her grandfather in Hong Kong for her studies. The intergenerational communication between grandfather and granddaughter is filled with humor. The generational gap is resolved in life, breaking barriers and elevating familial affection. "Golden Era": During the SARS period in 2003, three small citizens dream of getting rich in a grand era. They often chat about big investment plans, fantasizing about becoming wealthy overnight. After debates and discussions, they always miss the opportunities to get rich. "Lost": In the spring of 2018, a husband returns to Hong Kong to reunite with his wife and children, but as he reminisces about the past with old photos amidst the rapidly changing streets of Hong Kong, he completely loses his way. In the end, memories of misfortune turn into nostalgia. "Deep Dialogue": In the future, a psychiatric hospital is conducting a study on schizophrenia. Four participants engage in forgetful performances, unable to distinguish their true identities. Who is the doctor? Who is the patient?
