Filmed in Taiwan in 1978 During the Ming Dynasty, the Left Chancellor Hu Wei-yung plotted to betray the country. To thwart Hu's treachery, the martyrs led sixty Shaolin disciples to fight to the death in an attempt to break through the encirclement of the Jinyiwei and approach the emperor. In the thirteenth year of the Hongwu era, Hu Wei-yung was ultimately executed in the market for treason. One hundred seventy-nine loyal martyrs were graciously awarded a gold plaque inscribed "Loyal and Righteous of the Generation" by the emperor as a reward for their loyalty.
