Kanai Ito (played by Mizuki Tanimura), who works at a TV station in Tokyo, unexpectedly receives the news of her mother's death one day. In a haste, she takes a train back to her long-estranged hometown—Okuhida in Gifu Prefecture. Okuhida was once a thriving little town relying on mining, but with the decline of the mining industry and the increasing depopulation of the area, many places and facilities that left Kanai with beautiful memories have fallen into disrepair. In her low spirits, Kanai reunites with Mr. Okura (played by Suzuki Matsuo), who still retains a childlike spirit. To revitalize local tourism, Mr. Okura puts great effort into developing projects like a mine-themed roller coaster and a bicycle on a track.
