Joe Alwyn and Leslie Odom Jr. will join the cast of the biopic [Harriet], which previously announced cast members include Cynthia Erivo and Clarke Peters. Directed by Seth Mann (Homeland). Harriet Tubman was born in 1822 as a enslaved person in Maryland. In 1849, she escaped to the North and soon became one of the most active leaders in helping slaves escape via the Underground Railroad, returning home multiple times to guide others to freedom. After the outbreak of the Civil War, Tubman actively fought, becoming one of the few women in the Union Army; after the war, she dedicated herself to the women's rights movement. Harriet is also the first woman to appear on U.S. currency. The film will begin shooting next month in Virginia.
