After a millennium of prosperity, the majestic imperial capital has long since rotted from within, with its ruler possessing a demonic soul leading civilization towards destruction. In order to save the village from its predicament, the young swordsman Tatsumi (voiced by Sōma Saitō) bravely ventures into the capital. At this time, the supreme emperor of the capital is merely a naïve child, while the actual power behind the throne is a manipulative minister, the root of the capital's decay. After a series of twists and turns, Tatsumi is forcefully pulled into a mysterious organization called Night Raid by Leone (voiced by Yū Asakawa), who had previously deceived him. Night Raid is an assassination group that strikes fear into the hearts of all the nobility and affluent in the capital; they are a secret special forces unit under the revolutionaries, with the ultimate goal of overthrowing the minister's rule. Under the leadership of Najenda (voiced by Risa Mizuno), supreme experts like Akame (voiced by Sora Amamiya) and Leone gather under their banner. Tatsumi's fate then takes a dramatic turn, leading him into increasingly greater conflicts towards the unknown... This film is adapted from the manga by Takahiro (original work) and Tetsuya Tashiro (illustrations).
