Liu Jianyi (played by Takeshi Kaneshiro) is a thug in Shinjuku's Kabukicho. As a leftover orphan of Taiwanese and Japanese descent, he is called a half-Tangs and is not accepted by society. Kabukicho has various factions such as the Shanghai Gang, Fujian Gang, Beijing Gang, and Taiwanese Gang, creating a complex power struggle. As New Year approaches, it seems that Jianyi's former partner Wu Fuchun (played by Kippei Shiina) has returned to Kabukicho. Fuchun is on the run for killing a subordinate of Yuan Chenggui (played by Eric Tsang), and Yuan threatens Jianyi to hand over Fuchun within three days, or both will face death.
