Dr. Martin Harris (played by Liam Neeson) goes to Berlin for an academic conference but unfortunately suffers a car accident. When he wakes up from his coma, he discovers that his entire life has been stolen: his wife Elizabeth (played by January Jones) no longer recognizes him, and another man (played by Aidan Quinn) has taken his identity, appearing openly at the conference as Dr. Harris. It seems that everyone believes this man is the real Dr. Harris, leaving Martin utterly confused. No one believes Martin's story; the local Berlin police ignore his complaints, and it appears that someone is out to kill him. In a foreign land, with no one to turn to and in great danger, is it people's memories that have been stolen? Or is there something wrong with his own mind? Or could there be a shocking conspiracy at play? Just when Martin is at a dead end, a mysterious woman named Gina (played by Diane Kruger) appears, seemingly able to help him uncover the truth…
