The story takes place in the high school section of Risaki Shouko Academy, where Asa-gaya Minomi (voiced by Honma Kaede) is a high school student who has just come to study here. With a somewhat naive and clumsy personality, she tends to get into trouble easily. Under the influence of this trait, she encounters Kamishirasu Arisu (voiced by Senbongi Sayaka). Arisu, born with a silver spoon, unexpectedly has a deep passion for animation and pulls the somewhat unknowledgeable Asa-gaya into forming an animation research club. The club welcomes a variety of new faces, including the very quiet and composed Takamatsu Yoshiko (voiced by Tohjo Hinako), the seemingly cool guy who is actually a heavy OTAKU Nakano Kouki (voiced by Terashima Junta), and the unusually eccentric Musashizaki Kai (voiced by Ito Shizuka), who is isolated by classmates due to his chuunibyou.
