Uesugi Kagetora, originally named Hojo Ujihide, was the seventh son of Hojo Ujiyasu. After the Hojo and Uesugi clans formed an alliance, he was sent to the Uesugi family to become the adopted son of Uesugi Kenshin, taking on the name Uesugi Kagetora. In 1578, after Uesugi Kenshin's death, a struggle for the headship ensued between Kagetora and another adopted son, Uesugi Kagekatsu, known as the "Dispute at the Goten." Kagetora was initially in an advantageous position, but the situation took a drastic turn that led to Kagetora's soldiers committing suicide. The protagonist of this story, Nagaki Koya, is the reincarnation of Uesugi Kagetora, but he has completely lost all memories of his past life until the appearance of Uesugi's vassal, Naoe Kanetsugu, reveals that everything around him is different than usual. Those from Kagetora's era gradually start to gather around Koya, and strange events keep occurring. Takeda Shingen has attached his soul to Koya's friend Narita Jou, and although Naoe attempts to seal it with a bracelet, it proves ineffective. To save Jou, Koya goes to Matsumoto Castle, where a group of skeletal samurai under Takeda Shingen appears around him. With Naoe's help, Koya defeats them and successfully rescues Jou, but the troublesome events have only just begun... --------------------------- The anime "Mirage of Blaze" is adapted from one of Japan's three classic danmei novels, "Mirage of Blaze," by Mizuna Kuwahara.
