The TV series "Qing Ping Le" follows the life of Emperor Renzong of Song, telling the story of how Zhao Zhen rose to power from a young age while gradually taking control of state affairs and tirelessly caring for his people. It also depicts, behind the tumultuous court, Renzong's emotional choices and his joys and sorrows. Ascending to the throne at a young age, Renzong possesses the power of life and death over the world, yet due to his compassion for the common people, this supreme status and power bring him pressure. He fears changes in the heavens above and is wary of people's words below, balancing the court and the world as if he is walking on thin ice. The era of Renzong saw a prosperous economic and cultural flourishing, known as a golden age in ancient Chinese history, which relates to his principle of "governing with leniency and teaching without retribution," as well as his commitment to open discourse. However, he sacrificed almost all possibilities of "indulgence," placing his daughter, wife, beloved concubine, and even himself in an insurmountable isolation. He struggled between the affection of the common people and that of the emperor, the concept of governance and familial bonds, finding it difficult to choose between reason and emotion, showcasing the helplessness and choices of personal fate in an ancient context. Even being born into a royal family, one must bear the responsibilities and missions bestowed by one's birth and times, necessitating the abandonment of ordinary human emotions and joys. Throughout, personal choices resemble a trickling stream submerged in the tides of time, and it is precisely these trickles that coalesce into the waves.
