The shrewd and bold jewel thief Keith Ripley (played by Morgan Freeman) must take on a formidable task to steal the Russian Imperial Egg after his partner Victor tragically dies, leaving behind a massive gambling debt to the loan shark Nicky. Ripley starts looking for a partner and, by chance, sets his sights on the nimble street pickpocket Martin (played by Antonio Banderas). The eloquent Ripley quickly persuades him to join the mission to breach the royal defenses. Meanwhile, Victor's daughter, Elise (played by Radha Mitchell), unexpectedly appears, and her seductive charm captivates Martin, leading them to fall in love. However, just as Ripley and Martin invade the heavily guarded royal treasury to execute their heist, they discover that the police have been waiting for them all along. On the other side, the mob boss Nicky has kidnapped Elise, coercing the duo into securing the egg, and to make matters worse, Martin's identity undergoes a significant twist. In this critical moment, can Ripley successfully turn the tide and escape unscathed?
