Matt Franklin (played by Topher Grace) has just graduated from MIT, but he doesn't seem to want to follow his father's wishes and enter the finance world. Instead, he chooses to work at a video store while pondering what he really wants to do. One day, the girl he had a crush on in high school, Tori (played by Teresa Palmer), accidentally walks into his video store and invites him to a Labor Day party, which just happens to be hosted by Matt's sister Wendy (played by Anna Faris) and her boyfriend. At the party, Matt discovers that Wendy isn't really into her boyfriend, and old friends are facing their own life crises. These troubled young people decide to throw caution to the wind and have fun that night, but after that night, the fates of several young people become intertwined...
