The story takes place in the 1930s. The kind-hearted, cheerful, and strong-willed Yan Xiaoman (played by Yang Mi) comes to the Dai family as a maid to avenge her younger sister's injustice, meanwhile being loved by two men: the eldest son of the Dai family, Dai Wentian (played by Li Dongxue) and the second son, Dai Juntao (played by Sun Jian), which puts Xiaoman in a dilemma.
