Located on Fukue Island in the Goto Islands, Goto Middle School's choir teacher Haruko Matsubara (played by Fumino Kimura) is on maternity leave, and she entrusts her friend Yuri Kagaki (played by Yui Aragaki) to substitute for a semester. Kagaki is beautiful yet aloof, making the students both curious and wary of her; although it is said she was once a pianist in a symphony orchestra, she resigned for unknown reasons and is resolutely unwilling to guide the students in practice. The goddess-like teacher's unexpected arrival draws a group of boys who had previously shown no interest into this all-girls choir. However, the girls constantly argue with the boys and express their dissatisfaction with Teacher Kagaki's indifference. The annual NHK National School Music Competition is approaching, and the choir actively practices the designated piece "Letter ~To You at Fifteen~." During this time, the secrets hidden in Teacher Kagaki's heart gradually come to the surface, and the children find their life's direction through the influence of music... The film is adapted from the novel of the same name by author Eiichi Nakata (also translated as "Goodbye, Little Birds of Youth").
