The story takes place in a city called Iolph, where people born there possess infinite lifespans, yet their appearance is fixed at 15 years old. Maquia (voiced by Mana Kanemoto) is such a girl, a native of Iolph. One day, in order to seize the blood of immortality, the Mesart army launched an air raid on Iolph using ancient divine beasts, causing heavy losses. Maquia's friend, Lelia (voiced by Ai Kayano), is captured, along with the boy Maquia has a crush on, Krim (voiced by Yuki Kaji). In a dark forest, the surviving Maquia finds an infant boy whose parents were killed in the previous attack. Maquia adopts him as a mother, naming him Ariel (voiced by Yūko Sanpei).
