In a remote and quiet house, a film director sets up a camera to interview a middle-aged woman, hoping to draw inspiration for a script, as she was involved in the 1976 student movement that was brutally suppressed by the Thai government. The film initially appears ordinary, oscillating between the present and the past. However, the straightforward narrative gradually fractures, featuring a glowing blue mushroom, a girl who constantly changes jobs, a male actor, a female actress, blurring the lines between reality and illusion, with a film within a film... The Thai director Anocha Suwichakornpong, who won the Golden Tiger Award at the Rotterdam Film Festival with "A seemingly ordinary story," presents her latest work after a seven-year hiatus. Boldly discarding a main character and plot, she skillfully manipulates the timeline, which is both static and progressive, to conjure the magic of reconstructing memory and history, layering it like Russian dolls filled with wonder. What lingers is the sorrow of eternal recurrence. What cannot land is the silenced history.
