The film is adapted from Hong Ying's "Death in Shanghai" and Ryuichi Hengko's "Shanghai." In 1941, the famous actress Yu Jin returns to Shanghai during the isolated period, ostensibly to star in her former lover's play "Saturday Novel." But what is her true purpose?
