2007 Berlin Film Festival Jury Prize. Tells the story of a mysterious man who changes identities. As usual, he went on a business trip to another country one day, only to find that it marked the beginning of another journey: upon reaching his destination, Juan Desouza discovers that a man next to him has died. Mysteriously, like entering a game world, he decides to assume this person's identity to find a job, a place to stay, and hopes not to return to his past life. In this new life, in a state of possibility and with no purpose, the man embarks on an adventure to seek his true nature. To rediscover his worldview, he relies on his most basic instincts, attempting to comprehend his understanding of life. For him, what life he chooses and why he lives is by no means limited to just one possibility. This film is a collaboration between Germany, France, and Argentina. Ariel Rot, an Argentine young director and screenwriter, returns to Berlin with "El otro" after his 2001 film "Sólo por hoy" (Living Abroad). This is the director's second work. Julio Chávez won the Best Actress Award at the Panama Film Festival for his role in María Luisa Bemberg's 1982 art film "Senora de nadie" (Wife of Nobody), which is regarded as a classic of Argentine cinema in the 1980s. His film "The Guardian" was featured at the 56th Berlin Film Festival.
