2005 28th Göteborg Film Festival "Nordic Film Prize", Best Cinematography Award, Best Film Award, and Best Nordic Film Award at the International Critics' Week 2005 27th Moscow International Film Festival Jury Special Award The film tells the story of the thin line that separates a "successful" individual from a "marginalized" one through a series of tragic cycles, urging people to care more about others. Tuomas is a young computer hacker who wishes to do something meaningful and useful for society. His even more reckless friend Niko immerses himself in the joyful world of drugs and alcohol. Additionally, Elina, a young radical in her twenties studying history and politics at university, has been in a happy relationship with Tuomas for over a year and is planning to get married. However, a chain reaction is set off after Niko forges 500 euros. Another plotline follows the serious consequences of an attack on the Internet that Tuomas and Elina plan. "Frozen Land" is a powerful, fast-paced film that depicts the realities of contemporary Finland. While it includes several striking and tragic events along with plenty of action, it is also warm and touching. The film employs a non-linear narrative structure, with the stories not connected in chronological order.
