During the Anti-Japanese War, young female archaeologist Fang Zhizhen teaches at a university along with her father, Professor Fang. Driven by a strong sense of patriotism, she is determined to retrieve the lost medical texts of the legendary healer Hua Tuo. Zhizhen and Japanese archaeologist Kawada Mo discover two pearls in an ancient tower, but their find is snatched away by a group of Germans led by Gan Ge, who are also searching for the texts. Shortly after, just before a mission to return home, Kawada is ordered to stay behind and search for Hua Tuo's medical books, with assistance from the rogue Nishikyo Michiko and Takashiro Joji. Gan Ge lures a university professor to join the search, and Zhizhen is enraged by his shameless actions. In order to find the medical texts quickly, they venture into a dark secret chamber where they find a clue on one of the pearls. They immediately rush to Professor Chen’s home and find the words “Key to Open Heaven’s Gate” in a painting depicting Yu Jin kneeling to present Hua Tuo. Gan Ge arrives shortly thereafter, but the writing has been erased by Zhizhen. At the train station, Zhizhen encounters Kawada, who tells her directly, strengthening her resolve to protect the national treasure. She suddenly recalls that her old classmate Lan Tian once mentioned that their family held two "keys to open Heaven's Gate." She and Kawada find Lan Tian, who generously offers the keys, but unexpectedly, Gan Ge's henchman, an idiot, suddenly snatches the keys away. During a struggle, the idiot falls against a stone by the furnace, and the hot key leaves a mark on his forehead. Gan Ge comes after them and steals the keys from Zhizhen again. Remembering the mark on the idiot's forehead, Zhizhen devises a plan to trick him, using plaster to create a mold of the keys. With the replica keys, they head to the foot of Huangshan Mountain, where Zhizhen and Professor Fang work together to open the stone door. At the end of the cave, they discover a chest containing Hua Tuo’s hidden books. However, the iron chest is central to the cave’s structure, and moving it could cause a collapse. Following the guidance of the painting by Yu Jin, Zhizhen manages to pull out the iron chest and throws it to Kawada, urging her to leave the cave quickly. As the cave begins to crumble, everyone rushes out, but Gan Ge and his men are already waiting below the mountain. Nishikyo Michiko is captured, and Kawada’s rescue attempt fails, leading to Nishikyo being killed by the ruthless Gan Ge. In the ensuing battle to protect the treasure, Professor Fang tragically sacrifices himself, igniting Zhizhen and the others' anger. A more intense confrontation is about to unfold...
